Information for (MC) Heavy Vehicle Licence

Successful applicants can receive their licence upgrade, same day (Conditions apply)

Once you have been issued your Heavy Rigid (HR class) or Heavy Combination (HC class) vehicle licence, you can begin to learn to operate MC class combination vehicles.

This course is suitable for candidates who wish to acquire an MC drivers licence and be certified to operate:-

• B-doubles
• Prime mover, low loader dolly and low loader trailer combinations
• Road trains

These are some of the largest vehicles on the Australian roads.

Eligibility

In order to apply for an MC licence course with us, you need to:

• Have held an HR or HC licence or equivalent for at least one year
• Pass an MC knowledge test
• Pass an eyesight test
• Successfully complete HVCBA. If you hold an HR licence, you’ll need to pass an HC assessment before you can start MC training
• Pass a medical examination

Before obtaining the MC licence, it is of utmost importance for the Driver/Operator to understand the level of their responsibility and our trainers will ensure and take the time until you identify that competence.

With a MC licence in NSW, you can apply for a job to:-

• do deliveries for any Supermarket or eCommerce business
• operate long-distance, interstate, intrastate and intercity deliveries
• transport bulk haulage and large volume, heavy load deliveries.

PLEASE NOTE: Need A Truck Licence (NATL) are nationally accredited by RMS as a National Heavy Vehicle Training Organisation with the creator of NATL having over 40 years of real on-road experience.

Criteria 5 – Manages Gears
Criteria 6 – Manages Brakes
Criteria 7 – Manages Accelerator
Criteria 8 – Create & Maintain Crash Avoidance Space
Criteria 9 – Protect Crash Avoidance Space
Criteria 10 – Road Rules and Directions
Criteria 11 – Reversing
Criteria 12 – Hill Stop/Start
Criteria 13 – Load Securing
Criteria 14 – Coupling/Uncoupling (HC & MC only)

The training course must be completed in which you will be trained and assessed on the applicable criteria listed above. When you have met the RMS standard you will be “Signed off by your Trainer”. 

Once the training course is completed you will then be required to complete the Final Competency Assessment (FCA), which is the final drive Test that will be Video Recorded as an RMS Requirement.

After the FCA has been successfully completed, you will be issued with a Certificate of Competency (CoC) which you then take to a RMS service centre to be issued your HR licence.

** You may have also to pay a little at the RMS service centre as a adjustment to the higher Licence Class  **
